Independence/Taylor Mill
These rural communities offer urban advantages, which draw families to the area. Farms and older homes are reminders of the area's secluded country origins. But as Cincinnati expands, both Taylor Mill and Independence- Kenton County's second seat-are becoming increasingly popular choices for families seeking moderately priced homes in a peaceful, rural setting. Independence, incorporated in 1842, still has its original county courthouse. It has an amphitheater (for concerts, an occasional movie and puppet show for children) located behind the Senior & Community Center, adjacent to Memorial Park. Taylor Mill is close to Ryland Heights Country Club. Both are convenient to I-275 for quick commutes to shopping and dining, the airport and downtown Cincinnati. Scott High School, on 78-acre campus, is here.
